OBJECTIVE:
To continue 4+ decades
of creating healthcare products and services that optimize quality-of-life.
Currently developing sleep-related products for license that increase healthspan
and extend life by reducing the effects of chronic stress, inflammation,
and pain. These proprietary nutraceutical-based systems specifically
target the trend toward improving quality-of-sleep in the emerging boomer
demographic and older generations. Further applications of his proprietary
systems have the prospect of slowing the progression of neurodegenerative
disease, such as Alzheimer's disease.
BIOGRAPHICAL
BACKGROUND:
Robert Bornn is an
innovative psychophysiologist and a seasoned health care products inventor.
During four decades of life-positive advocacy, Mr. Bornn has created more
than a dozen health, quality-of-life, and sustainable energy inventions.
He holds five medical device patents.
He founded seven research and development companies and directed the R&D
of his proprietary medical monitors and ergonomic input devices.
He also established two nonprofit scientific research organizations.
In the early 80s
Mr. Bornn conducted sleep research at the Langley Porter Neuropsychiatric
Institute at the University of California San Francisco. He investigated
cardiorespiratory concomitants of dreaming and developed innovative underwater
electrophysiological recording techniques for flotation tank research.
For the next two
decades he created medical monitors and ergonomic devices. He licensed
the NightWatch™ ambulatory sleep recording and assessment system for the
adult sleep apnea market. The licensee sold $100 million of NightWatch
product and was later acquired for $5 billion.
Mr. Bornn also invented
PatientWatch™ hospital patient monitor, SafeWatch™ ambulatory cardiorespiratory
alert system, and LifeSense™ home personal monitors for cardiorespiratory
and stroke alerts.
Mr. Bornn commercialized
programs for sleep disorders centers, corporate wellness programs, and
other services that disseminated information about positive sleep hygiene
to improve sleep health.
In the late 90s and
early 21st century he invented hands-free HiBrow™ and TopHat™ universal
input devices and the soft touch Companion™ ergonomic input device.
Mr. Bornn founded
LifeSense
Technologies, LLC in 2011 and currently leads the team in the development
of his proprietary technology.
Mr. Bornn is leading
the development of his proprietary ENSEMBLE Precision Cannabis™
cultivars and derivatives (patent pending) that will facilitate healthy
sleep; associated with wellness, healthspan and longevity.
During 2014 Mr. Bornn
also initiated the CMAP™
Project
and developed a team to promote better cannabis science and support legislation
for medical marijuana and cannabis research. The CMAP Project
has
created a practical guide to cannabis research in human subjects.
It promotes a scientific research methodology (the Cannabis Multi-Analysis
Process™) that is specific to the unique characteristics of
cannabis. The CMAP
Guide will help raise the standards
for cannabis science, in part by offering a process to systematically deconstruct
prohibitionist studies and also by sponsoring new research to achieve more
scientifically sound results. The CMAP
Project will educate
by publicizing scientific critiques in media releases and making authoritative
talking points available on the Web for public education.
The company first
prototyped and tested the AromaChill™ relaxation system,
followed by a commercial product, the Terpz™
inhalation system.
The leading edge
AromaChill
and
Terpz
systems
reflect the founder's four plus decades of experience with creating and
licensing physiological monitoring and other products for wellness, medical,
and ergonomic markets.
